Philippine security forces members killed four people, including two suspected militants, during a raid in Don Bosco district in Paranaque city (Metropolitan Manila) on Friday, June 26. One police officer was reportedly injured after a grenade was thrown at the security forces. The two suspected militants reportedly have links to Abu Sayyaf (Islamic State - East Asia Province), although this remains unconfirmed.

Further security operations are to be expected in the area over the near term.

Abu Sayyaf is an Islamic State (IS)-affiliated jihadist militant group primarily operating in the southern Philippines. It is notorious for kidnapping people for ransom, especially in southwestern Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago.
