At least two Afghan humanitarian employees were killed on Saturday, June 27, after an improvised explosive device attached to a civilian vehicle detonated in the  Arzan Qemat area of Kabul's Police District 12 (PD12). Initial reports suggested that the blast occurred in the vicinity of the visitor's car park in Block 10. The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) announced later on Saturday that two of their members had been killed by the blast while in an AIHRC vehicle en route to its office in Pol-e Charki. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours. Similar attacks are possible in the medium term.

Individuals in Kabul are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.

The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
