At least six civilians were killed and a further two wounded on the afternoon of Sunday, June 28, in an improvised explosive device blast in the Washir district of Helmand province. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident. However, Taliban militants frequently plant mines and roadside IEDs on major routes in Helmand province intended to target security forces vehicles.

Taliban activity and IED attacks are likely to continue in Helmand province in the medium term.


Those in Helmand province are advised to monitor developments in their own particular area of operations through a range of multi-source intelligence advisories and should heed all instructions issued by local authorities or their home governments.
