Emerging reports indicate that police have blocked access to Terminals C and D of New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) on Thursday, July 9, as they investigate a suspicious item. Terminal D was reportedly evacuated at around 07:20 (local time) after an alarm was raised over suspicious material in a bag undergoing security screening. Flights operating from Terminal D have since been diverted to Terminal C, but significant disruption is continuing due to the ongoing security alert.

Disruption to flight operations at LGA and road travel within the immediate vicinity is likely in the near term.
