An improvised explosive device (IED) blast killed two soldiers on Friday, July 10, in the Charmang area of Bajaur Agency (Khyber Pakhtunkwa province). The explosion also wounded at least two other soldiers. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Similar militant attacks are possible in Bajaur Agency over the near term.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al-Qai'da, Islamic State (IS) affiliates, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, the Afghan Taliban, and other Islamist militant groups continue to pose a threat in Pakistan's western border region despite continued military operations aimed at improving security in the area.
Those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and Pakistan more generally, are advised to remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
