Two suspected militants were arrested during a counterterrorism operation in Chepkatet village, Kapseret sub-county (Uasin Gishu county) on Saturday, July 11. During the operation, explosives, detonators, and detonating equipment were discovered. It is not clear if the suspects are affiliated with a particular militant organisation, although some sources have suggested they may have ties to Somalia-based Al Shabaab.
Further security operations targeting suspected militants are possible in the near term.
Individuals in Kenya are advised to remain vigilant due to the continuing terror threat, adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities, and report any suspicious objects or behavior.
