Pipeline fire near Cairo injures 12 people on July 14; residual disruptions expected in the short term

A fire on the Shuqair-Mostorod crude oil pipeline in Cairo on Tuesday, July 14, injured at least 12 people. It is believed the fire was caused by a spark from a car that was driving on the Cairo-Ismailia highway which runs alongside the pipeline, and set oil leaking from the pipeline on fire. Authorities have stated that the pipeline's valves were immediately closed in the area of the fire and the fire was brought under control.

Residual disruptions in the vicinity of the affected area are to be anticipated over the near term. 


Those in Cairo are advised to monitor developments and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
