Police arrested at least 50 anti-government protesters in Jerusalem on Tuesday, July 14, following several hours of protest. Thousands of demonstrators gathered in front of the Prime Minister's official residence on Balfour Street, to protest alleged corruption and demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's resignation. According to media sources, demonstrators marched through the city and around Paris Square reportedly throwing projectiles at police officers and damaging property. Disruptions were reported as protesters blocked roads and disrupted Jerusalem Light Rail. At least one police officer was wounded in the clashes.

Further associated protests and disruptions are likely in the near term. A heightened security presence should also be anticipated.  


Those in Israel are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
