Protests are scheduled to take place in the cities of Kankan and Siguiri on Tuesday, July 21. The demonstrations are being held to protest over the recent load-shedding and electricity shortages in the country. A previous related gathering on July 14 in Siguiri resulted in at least two injuries and the use of tear gas by police forces.

Further protests are likely in the near term. Associated disruptions to transportation and business are to be expected around demonstration sites.
