Suspected herdsmen kill at least 21 in Kaduna state on July 19; similar attacks are possible in the region

At least 21 people, including at least one policeman, were killed on Sunday, July 19, and dozens of others were wounded after a group of suspected armed herdsmen attacked two communities in Sabon Gari Manchok and Kaura Local Government Area (LGA) in Kaduna state. According to media sources, a group of attackers arrived in Sabon Gari Manchok on motorcycles and began sporadically shooting at a wedding event taking place. Reports suggest that at least 28 people were wounded. Further details of the attacks including the cause were not yet verified. Security forces have been deployed to the area.

Further attacks and counter security operations are possible in the region.
