Emerging reports indicate that Israel Defense Force (IDF) personnel have clashed with suspected Hezbollah fighters on Monday, July 27, in the Sheba'a Farms area of the Golan Heights, on the border with Lebanon. An IDF patrol is reported to have ambushed several suspected Hezbollah militants attempting to cross the border in order to attack an IDF outpost with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). Artillery fire is also reported to have targeted the Kfarchouba area of southern Lebanon, across the border from Sheba'a Farms. It is currently unclear whether the alleged militants were able to fire an ATGM at a passing IDF vehicle or were engaged as they attempted to infiltrate the border.
Residents and visitors in areas along the border have reportedly been ordered to remain in their homes and seek shelter if in open areas, while roads in the area have been closed by the IDF.
Further clashes and security operations are likely along the border in the near term.
Those in the Golan Heights are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate a heightened security presence, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
