A large fire and explosion reportedly engulfed an oil storage facility in the Dolat Abad area of the western city of Kermanshah on Tuesday, July 28. The fire reportedly spread in a parking area at the site, causing at least one storage tank and several vehicles to explode before firefighters were able to contain the blaze. Local emergency service officials stated that there were no fatalities in the incident, but that several people had been injured.

Localized disruptions are likely in the Dolat Abad area in the near term amid the ongoing emergency response operations.

Dozens of fires and other incidents have been reported at industrial, research, and military facilities across Iran in recent weeks, several of which have caused significant damage. However, the Iranian government has repeatedly stated that there is no connection between the incidents which have been described as industrial accidents.

Those in Kermanshah are advised to avoid the vicinity of the incident, monitor developments, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
