According to media reports, flooding has caused significant overland travel disruptions in several parts of Kerala state, particularly in Ernakulam and Kottayam districts, as of Wednesday, July 29. Railway services are currently suspended between Ernakulam and Kottayam due to landslides blocking the railway tracks. An orange alert due to heavy rain has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department on Wednesday morning for the districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kollam. Significant overland travel disruptions have also been reported in Kochi city.

Flooding, landslides, and transportation and business disruptions, as well as disruptions to power and communications services, are expected in the Tohoku and Hokuriku regions in the coming days.
