Two Katyusha rockets were fired in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport (BGW) at 20:40 (local time) on Thursday, July 30. There have been no reports of casualties in relation to the incident. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Similar attacks targeting the vicinity of BGW are possible over the near term.
The last indirect fire attack targeting BGW was reported on July 6 and was attributed to pro-Iranian aligned Shia militias.
Individuals near BGW and surrounding areas are advised to closely monitor the situation, avoid the affected area, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
The security environment in Iraq remains complex. Although travel is possible in some areas with proper security protocols in place, other areas should be considered strictly off-limits.
