Authorities evacuated over 100 residents due to a fire burning in a pine forest in the municipality of Anglet (Pyrénées-Atlantiques department) on Thursday, July 30. The fire has burned over 407 acres (165 hectares) and damaged at least six structures. Over 150 firefighters have been deployed to fight the blaze and, as of the morning of Friday, July 31, had brought the fire under control. Efforts to prevent the further spread of the fire are ongoing, and authorities have warned that it may recover.

Further spread of the fire is possible in the near term. An emergency response presence and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in the affected areas.
