Police are responding to a security incident in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime department; Normandy region) on Thursday, August 6, after a bank robber reportedly took several hostages. The incident occurred at the BRED-Banque Populaire branch on Boulevard de Strasbourg and began at approximately 17:00 (local time). A large police presence has been deployed to the scene and a stand off with the perpetrator has reportedly ensued. Security forces have cordoned off the area. No injuries have been reported as of 19:00.

Due to the heightened security presence and police cordons, significant disruption is expected in the vicinity of the incident over the coming hours.
