Al-Shabaab militants reportedly attacked the village of Ba'adweyn in the Mudug region on the morning of Wednesday, August 12. Heavy fighting has been reported in the area between the militants and local security forces. Unconfirmed reports suggest that there have been multiple casualties, although the number of fatalities from the incident is yet to be confirmed.

A heightened security presence, as well as further security operations, are likely in the area in the near term.
