Emergency services are responding to an ongoing fire at a community in Shiashie area of Accra on Saturday, August 15. The fire ignited late on Friday night, August 14, the cause of which remains unconfirmed, though sources suggest it was a gas explosion. Media sources suggest that over 100 kiosks, which serve as shelters, have been burned in the blaze and further damage to infrastructure in the vicinity is feared. There have been no confirmed reports of casualties.

An emergency response presence and localized disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated over the coming hours as emergency services continue efforts to contain and extinguish the fire.
