On Tuesday, August 18, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.7-magnitude earthquake 71 km (44 mi) south-southeast of Masbate City (Masbate). The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi) at 08:03 (local time). There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
