At least two people were injured on Saturday, August 22, when a small vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) was detonated in the Bagh-e-Bala area of Kabul's Police District 2 (PD2). The device is reported to have been concealed in a motorcycle left at the side of the road.
The bombing is the fourth to hit Kabul in less than 24 hours, after under-vehicle improvised explosive devices (UVIEDs) were detonated in the PD4, PD7, and PD5 areas of the capital within an hour of each other on Saturday morning. At least one person was killed and four others were wounded in the incidents.
Localized disruptions are possible in the Bagh-e-Bala in the near term.
Those in Kabul are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
