Demonstrations and counter-protests over COVID-19 related restrictions to be held in Berlin on August 29; avoid as a precaution

Demonstrations have been planned to denounce coronavirus disease (COVID-19) measures in Berlin on Saturday, August 29. According to media sources, participants are expected to gather at 11:00 (local time) at Brandenburg Gate before marching towards Straße des 17 Juni, where the main rally is set to begin at approximately 15:30. Counter-demonstrations are also planned in the same location and outside the Reichstag building.

Previous similar rallies have been well-attended. A heightened security presence and associated disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of any protest sites. 


Those in Berlin are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
