Flooding in Parwan province, north of Kabul, has killed at least 17 people and injured 20 more as of Wednesday, August 26. Dozens of houses and vehicles were destroyed in the provincial capital, Charikar, and hundreds of homes destroyed province-wide. Although floods started at 03:00 (local time), local residents reported that rescue teams had yet to arrive as of 08:00.

A disruption to transportation is to be expected in Parwan province over the near term.  


Individuals in Parwan province are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, including evacuation orders.
