A heightened security presence is expected across Azerbaijan on Sunday, August 30, amid the Islamic festival of Ashura. The festival marks the tenth day of the Islamic holy month of Muharram. Due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), commemorations in Azerbaijan mosques have been canceled.
