Labor protest scheduled in Panama City for August 27 & 28; avoid all demonstrations

A protest has been called for in Panama City on Thursday, August 27, and Friday, August 28, and will be held to denounce the government's changes to the labor code, while reducing working hours that union officials deem unconstitutional. The demonstration has been called for by the National Confederation of United Independent Unions (CONUSI). Participants of the demonstration are set to gather at 09:00 (local time) at the Avenida de los Martires roundabout before marching to the Supreme Court. Further details regarding the demonstration have yet to be announced. 

A heightened security presence should be expected around the demonstration site, and localized traffic disruptions should be anticipated.  


Those in Panama City are advised to monitor developments, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities
