Event

Local police have stated that they are dealing with violent unrest in the Swedish city of Malmö on Friday evening, August 28. The unrest broke out around 19:30 (local time) after around 300 people took to the street to protest the burning of a Koran earlier in the day by a member of the Danish right-wing party Stram Kurs. Imagery showcase roadblocks and burning tires on the main street leading to the city's Rosengard district, and reports suggest that crowds have tossed stones at police and police vehicles.

A heightened security measure is to be anticipated in the city over the near term, and localized traffic disruptions are also likely.

Advice

Individuals in Malmö are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
