Around 120 people have been evacuated from the Horcajo and Avellanar districts of Aldehuela in Las Hurdes region (Caceres province; Extremadura) after a forest fire broke out early on Saturday, August 29. A fire danger warning level 2 has been raised due to the proximity of the fire to the evacuated districts. Operations are ongoing to control the fire.

Further spread of the fire is possible in the near term. Emergency response operations and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in the affected areas.
