Authorities issued evacuation orders for several areas of Huelva, predominantly in the Almonaster la Real municipality, affecting at least 2400 residents as of Sunday morning, August 30, due to a forest fire. As the fire advances towards the center of Huelva province several towns, such as La Zarza-Perrunal, have also received evacuation orders on Saturday, August 29. As well as issuing evacuation orders, authorities recommend evacuating areas such as Pinos de Valverde to prevent flames or smoke from affecting residents. Reports suggest that firefighters, members of the Civil Protection, Civil Guard, and local police from different towns affected by the fire are in the area coordinating efforts to control the fire. The blaze has not been contained and wind gusts of 40-50 kph (24-31 mph) exacerbated fires in certain areas on Saturday.
An emergency response presence and localized transportation disruptions, namely road closures, should be anticipated in the affected areas.
Individuals in Huelva province and surrounding areas are advised to monitor the situation, avoid affected areas, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
