Security forces killed at least one militant during operations launched in Mastung district (Balochistan province) on Monday, August 31. The fighting occurred in the vicinity of Parangabad when gunmen fired on government troops as they conducted a search operation in the area. Security forces claim that the deceased is a local commander of the Islamic State Province of Pakistan (ISPP) group, who was believed to be linked to an assassination of the leader of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) during the 2018 general elections.
Further security operations are likely in Mastung and the surrounding area in the near term.
Those in Balochistan are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
