Border crossings between the Gaza Strip and Israel will reopen from Tuesday, September 1, after Hamas stated that it had accepted a ceasefire deal with the Israeli government. The Israeli government stated that it would allow crossings for the delivery of essential goods, including fuel deliveries, and fully reopen the fishing zone off of Gaza. Israeli authorities warned that the deal is contingent on there being no further low-level attacks against Israel from the Gaza Strip.

The deal comes following a series of balloon and rocket attacks against Israel, followed by Israeli retaliatory airstrikes against Hamas infrastructure. On August 8, a Hamas official stated that the group would resume their balloon bomb campaign in order to exercise pressure on the Israeli government to revise the terms of an informal agreement between Hamas and Israel.

Those in the Gaza Strip and areas of Israel bordering the territory are advised to monitor developments and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.

Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the Gaza Strip.
