Military and police forces clash with armed bandits in Kaduna state along Kaduna-Abuja highway September 4; similar operations possible in the near term

Military and police forces engaged in clashes with armed bandits in Kaduna state along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Friday, September 4. The bandits were reportedly opening fire on passing motorists along the route. Multiple personnel and motorists were injured during the incident. Ground and air personnel have been deployed to search for the group in the adjoining forest. Kaduna Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has pledged to provide additional security on the route between the two cities. 

Similar attacks and security operations are possible in Kaduna state in the near term.
