A gas pipeline explosion near a mosque in the Fatulla area of Narayanganj district (Dhaka) on Friday, September 4, resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people and injured around 30 more. According to local police officials, the blast occurred as people were finishing their prayers at Baitus Salat Jame Mosque. Most of the injured were sent to a burn unit at a state-run hospital in nearby Dhaka, many in critical condition. Officials have stated that the blast may have been caused by a leaking pipeline, causing gas to accumulate in the mosque which was then ignited by an unknown source.

A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions are to be expected around the blast site over the coming hours.

Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor the situation and anticipate business and service disruptions in the vicinity of the explosion.
