Cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch left one Indian soldier killed and two others wounded on Saturday, September 5. Pakistani troops reportedly fired over the Line of Control (LoC) early Saturday morning towards the Shahpur, Kirin, and Degwar sectors; Indian Army personnel are said to have returned fire.

Further shelling is possible on both sides of the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days and weeks.

Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
