Manchester authorities confirmed late afternoon on Saturday, September 7, that no explosive devices were found on a bus at the Picadilly Gardens bus stop in Manchester following a call about a suspicious package earlier in the day. The area surrounding the incident was evacuated as a precaution as army bomb disposal experts were called to examine the package, which was later deemed to be harmless. Roads were also closed in Salford Quays after another suspicious item was found on a bus. A similar package was reported on Aytoun Street in the city center. Both were quickly deemed to be harmless.

Localized residual travel disruptions should be anticipated in the area in the near term.
