TIMEFRAME expected from 9/7/2020, 12:00 AM until 9/9/2020, 11:59 PM (Africa/Accra). COUNTRY/REGION Northern Region

Flooding has killed at least four people in North East region as of Monday, September 7, as a result of heavy rains and overspill from the Bagre Dam in neighboring Burkina Faso. Two fatalities occurred in weather-related incidents in Bunkpurugu district whilst two others died in East Mamprusi and West Mamprusi districts. Communities across Mamprugu and Moaduru districts remain largely inaccessible and disruption has been reported in Chereponi district following the collapse of the Adali bridge.

Further heavy rain is forecast for central and northern areas of Ghana over the near term. Disruptions to transportation, business, and utilities are likely.

Those in Ghana are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate transportation disruptions, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, including evacuation orders. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
