Unidentified assailants attacked the island of Ilha Vamizi (Cabo Delgado province) during the early hours of Monday, September 7. Reports suggest that the attackers burned a number of houses, stole at least three fishing dhows, and took food supplies. It is currently unclear if any casualties have resulted from the incident. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack at this time.

Further attacks, in addition to security operations, are possible in the area in the near term. 


Those in Cabo Delgado province are advised to monitor developments, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments. Some Western governments advise against all travel to parts of Cabo Delgado province.
