The detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) has killed at least ten people and injured 16 others in an attack on the convoy of the Vice President, Amrullah Saleh, in the Taimani district of Kabul's Police District 4 (PD4) area on Wednesday, September 9. Saleh has only sustained minor injuries; however, a number of his bodyguards were wounded. The Taliban have denied any responsibility for the attack.
Localized disruptions are possible in the area in the near term.
Those in Kabul are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant for possible militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
