Thailand: Heavy rainfall forecast nationwide September 18-20

Thailand News Alert

Thai Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall nationwide from September 18-20 due to Tropical Storm Noul; associated flooding and disruptions possible

TIMEFRAME expected from 9/16/2020, 12:00 AM until 9/21/2020, 11:59 PM (Asia/Bangkok). COUNTRY/REGION Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand from Friday, September 18, to Sunday, September 20. The rainfall is associated with Tropical Storm Noul in the South China Sea, which is forecast to make landfall on Vietnam before moving over north and northeastern Thailand over the weekend. This will coincide with the strengthening of the southwest monsoon, meaning most areas of Thailand will be affected by inclement weather in the coming days.

Strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected in many areas, with associated flooding, landslides, and disruptions to business and transport possible.

Those in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
