TIMEFRAME expected from 9/16/2020, 12:00 AM until 9/18/2020, 11:59 PM (America/Port-au-Prince). COUNTRY/REGION Port-au-Prince

Protesters have gathered in Port-au-Prince on Wednesday, September 16, to demand the release of a police officer, Jean Pascal Alexandre, and to demand better police working conditions. Demonstrators reportedly blocked parts of the Route de Delmas with burning tires, including in the vicinity of the Carrefour de l'Aéroport and Delmas 47. Demonstrators also marched along the road towards Petion-Ville. Gunfire has been reported in the area. A number of vehicles operated by the security forces have also been set on fire.

A heightened security presence is likely in the area in the near term, with an associated risk of localized travel disruptions.

Those in Port-au-Prince are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations, anticipate localized disruptions to transportation and business operations, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
