The Union des Syndicates des Oudriers et Employes de Nouvelle Caledonie (USOENC) has called for a march in Noumea on Thursday, September 17, to demand that the sale period of the VALE nickel processing plant in Goro be extended. Demonstrators plan to gather around Moselle Bay from 08:00 (local time) before marching towards the company's office. Protesters will then march on the High Commission to demand that authorities clarify their position regarding the sale.

A heightened security presence is possible in the vicinity of the protest, along with disruptions to overland travel.
