Demonstrators to gather in Bamako on September 22 to denounce the presence of French troops; avoid all protests

Activists have called for a demonstration to take place in Bamako on Tuesday, September 22, in opposition to the presence of the French military in the country. Attendees intend to gather to protest in front of the French Embassy from 14:00 (local time) and at the Monument de l'indépendance.

A heightened security presence, as well as associated disruptions to transportation, are to be expected around the demonstration sites.  


Those in Bamako are advised to monitor developments, avoid all gatherings as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
