Cross-border firing from neighboring Afghanistan resulted in the death of a soldier in Bajaur district (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province) on Monday, September 21. Reports suggest that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted a border post in the area.

Further attacks are possible in the area in the immediate term.

Militant groups based in Afghanistan frequently target Pakistani border posts along the mainly porous border. Pakistan is currently constructing fencing to prevent the movements of militant groups across the border.

Individuals in Bajaur and surrounding areas are advised to monitor developments, avoid the border area, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
