Cross-border shelling kills two soldiers in Bhimber district (Azad Jammu and Kashmir) on September 24; further shelling possible in coming days

Pakistani authorities stated that Indian cross-border shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) killed two soldiers in the Dewa area of Bhimber district (Azad Jammu and Kashmir) on Wednesday, September 24. The Pakistani army responded by firing at Indian border posts and claimed that they had caused damage. Indian forces also allegedly targeted the vicinity of Battal in Poonch district and caused damage in the villages of Tahi and Sehra. The Indian government has not commented on these alleged incidents.

Further shelling is possible on both sides of the LoC in the near term.
