Thousands of climate change protesters marched in central Montreal on Saturday, September 26, on the one year anniversary of a similar protest led by environmental activist Greta Thunberg. The march was organized by a coalition of activist groups who began the rally outside the Place de Canada. Despite the large turnout, the majority of those in attendance wore masks and respected public health guidelines. There were no reports of injuries or arrests in connection with the event.
A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are to be expected.
Individuals in Montreal are advised to avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
