North Carolina authorities announced that they have implemented additional security measures and a curfew ahead of scheduled protests on Sunday, September 27 in Raleigh. The citywide curfew will be in effect from 23:00 - 05:00 (local time). Two protests have been scheduled to take place in the city center in calls for social justice. The first event planned is an anti-corruption rally, which is scheduled to take place at the Wake County Courthouse where participants of the event are expected to gather at approximately 15:00. The second event will be a protest march and is scheduled to take place at Nash Square at approximately 19:30.
Local businesses have reportedly bordered up their establishments over concerns of potential vandalism during the demonstrations.
A heightened security presence and localized disruptions to transport are to be expected in the vicinity of the event.
