On Sunday, September 27, at least 16 employees of a coal mine just outside of Chongqing were killed due to inhalation of lethal amounts of carbon monoxide after a conveyor belt caught fire. Local sources said that one worker survived the incident and is being treated at a local hospital. An investigation into the incident is underway.
