Pakistani officials have announced that two people have been killed following clashes between Pakistani and Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, September 29. Indian artillery fire in the Baroh and Tandar sectors reportedly killed a soldier and a civilian, with a further four civilians injured. Pakistani forces responded with artillery fire towards Indian positions, claiming to have inflicted damage and casualties, although this has not been confirmed by Indian authorities. Pakistan also summoned the Indian Charge d'Affaires to the Foreign Ministry following the incident. Several incidents of cross-border shelling have been reported along the LoC in recent days.
Further shelling is possible on both sides of the LoC in the near term.
Those in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are advised to monitor developments and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments. Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
