Supporters of former president gather in Kabul’s PD4 on September 30; avoid the area

Supporters of former President Mohammad Najibullah have gathered in Kabul's Police District 4 (PD4) on Wednesday, September 30. Reports indicate that the gathering is taking place at Shar-e Naw Park.

A similar gathering by Najibullah supporters was opposed by supporters of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin party on Saturday, September 26, resulting in scuffles.

Further unrest is to be anticipated in the immediate term. A heightened security presence and associated disruptions to travel are to be anticipated in the vicinity of the demonstration. 


Those in Kabul are advised to monitor developments, avoid protests as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
