At around 09:20 (local time) on Wednesday, September 30, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a private security company (PSC) detail while in transit between Baghdad International Airport (BGW) and the International Zone (IZ). The blast reportedly occurred in the area of the intersection of the Qadisiyah Expressway and the Airport Road. It was not immediately clear whether the PSC was specifically targeted, and there have been no initial reports of casualties.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the blast in the near term, along with localized transport disruptions.
