Pakistan News Alert

Wife of imprisoned separatist calls for protest march in Islamabad on October 3; avoid all demonstrations

TIMEFRAME expected from 10/1/2020, 12:00 AM until 10/4/2020, 11:59 PM (Asia/Karachi). COUNTRY/REGION Islamabad

A protest march has been called for in northern Islamabad on Saturday, October 3, to demand the release of political prisoners held by the Indian government. The protest has been organized by Mushaal Hussein Malik, the wife of imprisoned Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik, and participants will reportedly gather at China Chowk at 11:00 (local time) before marching to Islamabad National Press Club. The march is likely to be well attended.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected along the route of the march, and clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Those in Islamabad are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests due to the risk of incidental violence, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
