The domestic passenger terminal at Auckland Airport (AKL) was evacuated on Sunday morning, October 4, after a suspicious object was reportedly discovered in a bathroom. Police cordoned off the area as a precaution as they carried out investigations. The terminal was closed between 09:40 and 11:00 (local time) before being reopened after police were satisfied that there was no genuine threat. 

Residual disruptions to flights from AKL are likely in the coming hours following the evacuation.


Individuals due to fly out of AKL in the immediate term are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate disruptions to flights, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
